SMS Messaging Terms & Opt-In

Last updated: July 4, 2026

This page describes the SMS (text message) program for the Grid mobile app, operated by HyperLocal Social Inc. It explains how you opt in to receive text messages, what messages we send, and how to get help or opt out.

1. About the program

  • Brand: Grid (a product of HyperLocal Social Inc).
  • Program type: Transactional one-time passcode (OTP) / account verification only. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.
  • SMS delivery provider: Amazon Web Services (Amazon SNS / AWS End User Messaging).

2. How you opt in (point of consent)

Opt-in happens inside the Grid mobile app during sign-up and sign-in. There is no pre-checked box, and consent to receive the verification text is never a condition of buying any other product or service.

  1. You download and open the Grid app and choose to sign up or sign in with your phone number.
  2. You enter your own mobile phone number on the phone-entry screen.
  3. You check the box that reads: "I agree to receive a one-time verification code by SMS. Msg & data rates may apply." This affirmative action is your consent, and it is required before a code can be sent.
  4. You tap "Send code" to request your one-time verification code at the number you entered.
  5. You enter the code you receive to complete verification.

At the point of consent, the app also states: "By continuing, you agree to our Terms of Use and confirm you read our Privacy Policy." The phone-entry screen discloses that message and data rates may apply and links to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

3. What messages you'll receive

  • A one-time verification code (OTP) sent only when you request to sign up, sign in, or verify your account.
  • These messages are triggered by your own action and are strictly transactional.
  • Sample message: "123 456 is your Grid verification code."

4. Message frequency

Message frequency varies and depends on your own sign-in and verification activity. You will typically only receive a message when you request a code.

5. Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. Rates are set by your mobile carrier and are your responsibility. Grid does not charge for text messages.

6. HELP and STOP

  • HELP: Reply HELP to any message for help information, or email us at support@gridappsocial.com (our primary support channel).
  • STOP: Reply STOP to any message to opt out and stop future texts from Grid. If you opt out, you may be unable to receive the verification codes required to sign in to your account.
  • HELP and STOP are handled automatically at the carrier level.

7. Privacy

We do not share your mobile opt-in data or phone number with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Your phone number is shared only with our SMS delivery provider (Amazon Web Services / Amazon SNS) solely to deliver your verification message. See our Privacy Policy for full details, including the dedicated SMS / Text Messaging Program section.

8. Carrier disclaimer

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
